We visited on a fall weekday. The hiking club trail is half riverside and unpaved and half paved through the forest. River and fall colors are gorgeous. There are a few places with steps that will let you walk down to the beach, although one was blocked by a fallen tree. About a two mile loop. The satellite bathrooms are open but picnic/shelter bathrooms are closed for the season.

Nice park. Lots of wildlife. Camper cabins were decent. Terribly uncomfortable beds. I recommend an air mattress. Park staff was friendly. The hiking trails were good. You can't swim here the river isn't safe for swimming.

We love this park, lots of hiking and a great sandy area by the river. We have stayed at the cabins and the hike in campsites. The hike in was a bit of a trek but a beautiful site for relaxation and it had lovely peaceful mornings.

The trails in this park are awesome. Very well maintained throughout the year. Truly a park of all seasons. Great hiking/biking/skiing and horse riding. It has a nice trail center and visitor center. Campgrounds are very spacious, big and nice and has some nice camper cabins and a small horse camp. Has nice day use areas and river access. Views of the river are good and there is ton of wildlife throughout the park. Really and underrated and under appreciated park.

Great and helpful staff. Park office has a great store and lot of information for the park and MN state parks and trials. Still cold and with snow. Water pretty high on the river but safe to bike and hike. Campground with heated bathrooms for ladies and several potable water spots. It is a great park for families, dogs owners, and 1 hour from the cities. Gas station 10 minutes away has all you need (wood, propane, etc). April weather has mostly RV using the campground still some brave souls camping with a tent.

Whatever the weather, Wild River is a great place to camp and hike! This is one of our favorite parks. Early spring offers the chance to see some darling wild flowers that get lost once the trees have all their leaves.

My first camping visit was awesome! Be ready for sandy trails for the backpacking sites. Limited cell service. Vehicle passes are available in person or online only since June 2023.
